Asha Sarath happy with ‘Aah… Asha’

Asha Sarath, the actress-danseuse who was popular in Malayalam, made her entry into Tamil cinema with Kamal Haasan’s ‘Papanasam’ and followed it up with the actor’s Deepavali release ‘Thoonga Vanam’.

Talking about the memorable praise she received so far, she says it was from the late legend K Balachander. “KB sir reviewed Drishyam (Malayalam original of ‘Papanasam’) and praised my performance as “Aah… Asha.” That compliment made me the happiest,” she says.

Asha also recalls speaking with Balachander over phone, while shooting for the Kannada version of ‘Drishyam’. “Prabhu sir connected me with KB sir. The latter blessed me and said ‘welcome to Tamil cinema’. Very soon, I got ‘Papanasam’ offer,” she says.

Asha, who runs a dance school in Gulf, is happy about working with Kamal in two consecutive films. “Kamal sir is really great and it is a valuable learning experience to work with him.
