Ilayaraja Clears the Air on Concent ControversyPublished: July 23, 2015
With a controversy brewing over maestro Ilayaraja’s proposed concert to pay tribute to legendary composer M S Viswanathan, the ‘Isaignani‘ has come out with an explanation as to what made him organise the event.
“No one knows the musical nuances of MSV better than me. So I wanted to take them to all and hence, am going to stage a concert with a small orchestra. He simplified many complex things with his music and he still lives,” Ilayaraja said.
It was alleged that tickets for the concert, slated to be held on July 27 in Chennai, are priced at a premimum (minimum itself was said to be Rs 2,000) and there was no clarity about where the proceeds would go.
However, Ilayaraja fans who wwre active online have jumped into the Isaignani’s defence, stating that the proceeds would go to a trust to be named after MSV and ‘Raja sir’ is doing this concert for a noble cause.
