Kamal accepts honorary post in Nadigar Sangam, Rajini yet to

The first executive committee meeting of the new office-bearers of South Indian Artistes Association was held in Chennai on Sunday. After the meet, the team led by president Nasser met the media and shared some important details.

Vishal said Kamal Haasan has  agreed to be a part of the trustee in the Nadigar Sangam council. He said Superstar Rajinikanth has also been approached, and a confirmation is awaited from him.

The general secretary said henceforth, the Sangam would remain neutral in political issues. “We feel the elected government of Tamil Nadu is best placed to speak on behalf of Tamils on major political issues like Cauvery water crisis,” he said.

He furhter said a state-of-the-art building with all modern facilities will be conducted and all members of the Sangam who are visiting Chennai must make it a point to visit Nadigar Sangam.

On suggestions from Rajini, Bharathiraja and Seeman that the South Indian Artistes Association should be renamed as Tamil Nadu Artiste Association, the new general secretary said that there were legal hurdles before them. “I personally do not favour a change in name,” he added.
