Kamal against return of awards

Refusing to join ‘anti-intolerance’ protest as part of which many popular personalities recently decided to return their awards, Kamal Haasan today said he will not return his National award.

Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, the ‘Ulaga Nayagan’ said, “Nothing will happen by returning these awards except you will insult government or people who gave award with love.”

He further stated: “I am not the one for intolerance. I tolerate all religions though I am not religious. Every five years we should debate intolerance.” Kamal also said “I think they should keep the award, make us proud and continue the fight.”

In Chennai on Monday, Kamal batted for Jallikattu and said that the ban against the traditional bull taming sport should be lifted soon. He said this after inaugurating a photo exhibition on Jallikattu at the Lalit Kala Academy at Egmore in Chennai.
