Kerala CM to honour IlayarajaPublished: January 2, 2016
Maestro Ilayarja, who has touched his 1000th film with ‘Tharai Thappattai’, will soon be honoured by the Kerala government at a grand function in Thiruvananthapuram.
For, he has been selected for Kerala Tourism’s Nishagandhi Puraskaram 2016 for his artistic excellence and contribution to the Indian film music industry.
Talking to journalists, Kerala Tourism Minister A P Anil Kumar said Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will present the award to Ilayaraja at Kanakakkunnu Palace during the inaugural ceremony of the Nishagandi festival on January 20.
An annual dance and music event, the eight day-long Nishagandhi festival will begin this year with classical sitar concert by Anoushka Shankar, the daughter of legendary instrumentalist Pandit Ravi Shankar. Various other programmes have also been planned.
