Maniratnam’s idea to make OK Kanmani Tax freePublished: February 25, 2015
It’s been a per-written rule in Tamil industry that films carrying English titles or words wouldn’t have tax exemption. Realizing this, many started opting for some Tamil titles, but after a certain point of time, few filmmakers were confident enough to pitch with the English titles that includes ‘Pizza ’ and recent release ‘Darling ’. This is merely because of the contents that would gradually offer the ‘U/A or A’ that wouldn’t make any difference with the title factors. Recently, the first look of Maniratnam’s Ok Kanmani became the latest one to join this league. With the first look poster unveiled on the Valentine’s Day and the word ‘OK ’ stressed, there has been more deliberation for the topic to rise.
On the spur of moment, Maniratnam has made a change to this title now and it will be now seen as ‘O Kadhal Kanmani ’. Only few more days are left for the post-production works to wrap up and AR Rahman’s musical treat is expected to arrive anytime sooner in the month of March and theatrical release in April. The film stars Malayalam actor Dulquer Salman and Nithya Menon in lead characters with Prakash Raj and Kanika seen in important characters.
