Manorama cremated, thousands pay tributesPublished: October 12, 2015
Kollywood lost his favourite Aachi, as the legendary Manorama breathed her last in the late hours of Saturday. Her mortal remains were cremated on Sunday evening, even as thousands paid tearful adieu.
Film stars gathered at her house in large numbers to pay floral tributes to her. The list includes Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Ajith, Vijay, Ilayaraja, Sarathkumar, ‘Delhi’ Ganesh, Karthik, Vairamuthu, S Ve Shekher, Vishal, Karthi, Vijaykumar, Bhagyaraj, Goundamani Parthiban, Raadhika, ‘Kalaipuli’ Thanu, T Rajender, Simbu, Vimal, Vikraman, and Pandiarajan.
Almost every media house in India and even those beyond the border (BBC carried an article about her) published obituaries for Manorama. Fans, from young to old, thronged her residence to offer last respects.
Only a few months ago, rumours cropped up about Manorama’s health and she responded saying she was healthy and had even signed three films, including ‘Singam 3′. She even attended the cinema journalists union function last week.
At a time when fans got ready to welcome her in big screen, fate snatched her away from them. May her soul rest in peace.
