“No that’s not story of Maari” – Balaji MohanPublished: June 18, 2015
With the emergence of short filmmakers taking a rise in toll, Balaji Mohan happens to be the pioneer as he started off this trend with ‘Kadhalil Sodhapuvadhu Yeppadi’. His second outing ‘Vaayai Moodi Pesavum’ was a decent show with good reviews. On the contrary to both these films, he made a surprise with ‘Maari’, which happens to be his out of comfort zone, where it’s all about the slum and slum don – Maari.
The film’s post-production works have been completed and is getting ready for release. During an interview, he has said, “Till now, Dhanush hasn’t given me a proper answer on why he chose me for this film as director. Whenever I keep asking him for this, his answers would be merely a smile.”
There are many rumours or an unconfirmed buzzes that the film is about pigeon races that happen in the North Chennai. But Balaji Mohan clearly denies them to be baseless rumours saying, “Only few portions in this film would have that concept and the story is completely different from what everyone has perceived to be.”
