Producers Council members against ThanuPublished: April 21, 2016
It seems all is not well in the Tamil Film Producers Council, following its Wednesday decision not to give films to theatres in Kanchipuram, Thiruvallur and Chengalpet areas after they refused to screen ‘Theri‘.
According to sources, some members of the association were not okay with TFPC president Kalaipuli S Thanu’s decision. “Attempts are being made to release Sasikumar starrer ‘Vetrivel‘ at theatres in the three areas,” sources added.
Meanwhile, coming out in open against TFPC, producer-actor Udhayanidhi Stalin posted on his online page: “where was the producers unity when I was rejected entertainment tax exemption for all my films for the past 5 years”.
At an emergency meeting on Wednesday, the TFPC decided to extend cooperation to the following theatres alone in Kanchipuram, Thiruvallur and Chengalpet region: AGS (OMR and Villivakam), Maayajal (Kanathur), Fame National (Virugambakkam), Jazz Cinemas (Velachery), PVR (Velachery), S2 Theyagaraja (Thiruvanmiyur), S2 Perambur, Ganapathiram (Adyar), Meera (Tiruvallur), Vetrivel Murugan (Ponneri) and SSR Pankajam (Saligramam).
