Producers Council split over Nadigar Sangam issuePublished: October 10, 2015
Tamil Film Producers Council president Kalaipuli S Thanu’s decision to mediate in the Nadigar Sangam elections has not gone down well with many members of the association, and they allege him favouring the team led by Sarathkumar.
In a statement, veteran producer A L Azhagappan said the decision by Thanu to reach a compromise has been taken unilaterally and no one was consulted.
“As per rules, an association or an organisation has no right to get itself involved in the elections of another association. Thanu’s attempts creates an impression among people as if he is acting in
favour of one faction,” he said.
“Elections are being conducted under a retired Judge to elect Nadigar Sangam office-bearers as per rules and let us wait for the outcome. We should welcome the winners and maintain a cordial relationship with them”, he added. “When the election date has been finalised and the teams are in their final stages of campaign, how can it be fair to look for a compromise,” asked the producer. Many other members of TFPC too are of similar opinion.
