Producers Council’s decision to save small filmsPublished: April 29, 2016
With small budget movies struggling to get screens, the Tamil Film Producers Council has come to their rescue. Today, the TFPC announced that it has decided to restrict the release of big movies in a particular week of the month.
According to the Producers Council, in a specific week every month, only small movies will be allowed to release in theatres. “There won’t be big releases that week,” it said.
Meanwhile, the TFPC also has announced that it has amicably settled the ‘Theri‘ row with theatre owners and distributors. Following this, the Vijay-starrer movie will hit the theatres in Chengalpet, Thiruvallur and Kanchipuram areas.
‘Theri’ is bankrolled by Kalaipuli S Thanu, the president of Tamil Film Producers Council. Theatre owners in the above three areas were not allowed to release the movie on April 14, following some trouble over rates, it may be recalled.
