Producers Vs Workers: No shootings from July 27Published: July 25, 2015
The Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) has announced that movie shootings would be cancelled from July 27, following failure of wage revision talks with the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI).
In a statement, the TFPC said, “it is shocking that FEFSI announced wages on its own, when talks were on with the TFPC. This move has hurt the producers badly and small producers are put to immense trouble.”
As per industry rules, wages should be fixed for workers once in three years. It is learnt that FEFSI has been demanding 40 per cent hike in wages citing various reasons, but the producers were not ready for it.
The TFPC’s version is that producers are facing huge losses as the industry is not in good shape and hence, they were not in a position to hike wages as per FEFSI’s demand.
