Popular singer-composer Shankar Mahadeavn suffered heart attack recently, following which he had to undergo angioplasty at a hospital in Mumbai. He is fast recuperating now.
“My dearest friends and well wishers, I have no words to express my gratitude for the amount of love and prayers I’ve received in the past few days when I was going through a health problem,” he said in an online statement.
“By God’s blessings, your positive energy and some excellent doctors, all the procedures were successful and I’m recovering very well. Waiting to come and rock with ya’ll soon! Lots of love and hugs,” Shankar, who is popular across India, said.
He is a four-time winner of the National Award: three times for Best Male Playback Singer and once for Best Music Director. Mahadevan founded the Shankar Mahadevan Academy, which provides online music lessons in Indian music for students worldwide. In 2015, he made his debut as an actor in the Marathi film ‘Katyar Kaljat Ghusli’, a film adaptation of a 1960 stage classic by the same name.
