Simbu, Anirudh asked to appear in court on March 21Published: January 20, 2016
A Coimbatore court on Tuesday ordered Simbu and Anirudh to appear before it on March 21, in connection with ‘Beep Song’ which had lyrics that denigrated women.
Coimbatore Judicial Magistrate – II Rajkumar issued the direction on a petition filed by Elango from Ganapathy in Coimbatore on January 4. In his plea, the petitioner accused the actor-singer and the composer of hurting women.
Elango also sought the arrest of the two for using vulgar language against women in the song. Hearing the plea, the judge adjourned the plea to March 21 and ordered the duo to appear before the court on that day.
It may be recalled that Anirudh appeared before the Coimbatore police recently. In statement, he contended that he was not the composer of the song which has come in for strong criticism from several organisations.
