Simbu faces arrest?Published: December 15, 2015
Close on the heels of the Coimbatore police serving summons on Simbu, asking him to appear in person on December 19, speculations were rife that the actor-singer would be arrested for the ‘Beep Song’.
The number, loaded with cuss words, has generated a lot of heat in the past few days with many organisations staging protests and filing police complaints against Simbu and music composer Anirudh.
Based on a complaint by one such organisation, the Coimbatore police on Monday isused summon to Simbu, directing him to appear at Race Course police station on December 19. With more and more complaints against the duo, it is said either both or at least one of them would be arrested.
On Monday, Simbu’s father and veteran actor-filmmaker T Rajendhar filed a police complaint, stating that someone had stolen the song and added cuss words into it. He said his son was innocent.
While Simbu had earlier said in a statement that it was his private property and someone had leaked it, Anirudh issued a statement on Sunday and distanced himself from the controversial
number, saying he was no way involved in it.
