Tamil group protests against Amy JacksonPublished: December 18, 2015
An outfit called Tamizhar Munnetra Padai has announced that it would conduct protests at the shooting locations of ‘2.0’, the sequel of ‘Enthiran’, if Amy Jackson was not sacked from the project.
In a statement, Tamizhar Munnetra Padai chief Veeralakshmi strongly condemned Amy Jackson expressing support to a group which has urged the government to continue the ban on Jallikattu.
She said Jallikattu is part of Tamil tradition and culture. “It is disheartening to see an actress who is making money acting in Tamil cinema making such statements against our tradition,” she said.
Besides signing a petition supporting the ban on Jallikattu, the ‘I’ and ‘Madrasapattinam’ actress posted on her online apge: ‘#NoJallikattu : Actors, cricketers sign @PetaIndia’s plea against bullfights http://bit.ly/1Qryzeq Please show your support too!”.
The petition was signed by various other prominent film personalities too, including Shilpa Shetty, Sonakshi Sinha and Vidya Balan.
