The man who produced popular Kamal films no more

Swati Mutyam’ (‘Sippikkul Muthu’) and ‘Sagara Sangamam’ (‘Salangai Oli’) were remarkable movies in the career of Kamal Haasan, while ‘Sankarabharanam’ is an all-time classic of south Indian cinema.

Edida Nageswara Rao Naidu, the man who produced the above movies and other notable projects, passed away in Hyderabad on Sunday due to age-related illness.

He owned the film production house Poornodaya Movie Creations and made ‘Swayam Krushi’, ‘Siri Siri Muvva’ and other films. Many top personalities of Telugu and Tamil film industries have mourned his death.

Nageswara Rao  produced films with a classical touch in the 1970s and 1980s. He was born to Sattiraju Naidu. Most of the movies produced by him won the National Film Award for best feature film in Telugu category, Nandi Awards and were screened in several international film festivals.

These films were also dubbed & released in the Russian Language. He started his career as a theatre actor, film actor, dubbing artist and then ventured into film producing. After getting retired from the film production, He has also worked as Telugu Film producer’s Council Secretary, Nandi Awards Committee Chairman and National Film Award Committee member.
