Udhayanidhi to go to court against TN govtPublished: January 18, 2016
As the Tamil Nadu government has denied tax exemption to ‘Gethu‘ citing that it doesn’t have a Tamil title, actor-producer Udhayanidhi Stalin has decided to knock the doors of the court.
Though the tax exemption comittee members liked the film and said it did not have violence or scenes against Tamil culture, they denied tax exemption as ‘Gethu’ is not a Tamil word.
Following this, Udhayanidhi has said ‘Gethu’ is a Tamil word. Citing a dictionary, he said ‘Gethu’ means ‘Thanthiram‘ and hence the film is eligible for tax exemption. Sources close to him said he would file a case in this matter soon.
Directed by Thirukumaran, ‘Gethu’ hit the screens for Pongal. An action-entertainer, it had Sathyaraj playing Udhayanidhi’s father and Amy Jackson as his love interest. Music is by Harris Jayaraj.
