Urvashi’s sister Kalpana passes awayPublished: January 25, 2016
Actress Kalpana, elder sister of Urvashi, passed away in Hyderabad this morning. She was 50. According to sources, she was admitted to a leading private hospital there recently and her end came this morning.
It is said that she was suffering from health ailments. Her sudden demise has shocked everyone and condolences have been pouring in from various quarters.
Kalpana was known for her comic roles in south Indian film industries and more particularly in Malayalam cinema. At the 60th National Film Awards, she won the Best Supporting Actress award for her performance in ‘Thanichalla Njan’ (2012).
Apart from Urvashi, she had another sister called Kalaranjini. The full name of the deceased actress was Kalpana Ranjani and she entered the film industry wanting to work as a heroine.
However, she ended up doing comedy. Kalpana had stepped into reality shows and said she thoroughly enjoyed them. She recently performed a music album with Usha Uthup. She had published her memoirs, Njan Kalpana.
In Tamil, she will be remembered for her roles in ‘Chinna Veedu’ and ‘Sathi Leelavathi’.
